Welcome to Edgar J. Wilde

I am Edgar J. Wilde, obviously a pseudonym taking the names of two of my favorite writers. Messer's Edgar Allan Poe and Oscar Wilde.

I write under a pseudonym purely because a lot of the pieces I write are dark, depressing and share things that I wouldn't want some people close to me to know. Some colleagues, friends or family etc.

What I will share is that I am in my 30's, originally from the U.K, living in the USA (so expect a back and forward between the different spellings of certain words!)

I live in one of the Southern States. I have been married and divorced twice. I have depression, anxiety, ADHD, and OCD tendencies. I struggle with self-harm, I have thoughts of suicide, although I do not intend to act on them (again), I love hard and my heart breaks easily.

I have been writing on and off for many years. My earliest memories would be at age 6 or 7, writing pages and pages for a primary/elementary school project about "what did you do during the break?". I found I enjoyed the process of writing things down, stories, thoughts and memories. In secondary/high school, I was introduced to poetry in English class. I found using words to describe my thoughts and feelings to be therapeutic. I had a few pieces chosen to be displayed at a poetry event that was being hosted locally.

I then stopped writing, 13 years old, in the UK...... I was too busy drinking, smoking weed and doing many things I shouldn't. I started writing again around the age of 27 while I was going through severe depression and subsequently my first divorce. I found it to be a great outlet and one that probably saved my life more than once.

I met my second wife through poetry, but we both stopped writing when we were together, I think we both used writing to manage negative feelings, and when we were together, there was limited negative feelings.

I then started to write again as we divorced and have been writing ever since. Publishing my first book "The Roots of Rot and Ruin" for sale, although there is a book prior to this which is unavailable for purchase called "Eternal Echoes Whispered Between Us" (this is where my original Instagram name came from, and the account i still use now!).

I have always been drawn to the darker more macabre styles and Plague Doctors have always fascinated me. So, this is how I like to see myself when I write!

I enjoy interacting with others, regardless of form or theme of their writing, so if you would like to get in touch, please do so! I may write dark, but I am usually pretty cheery!
